Boreal Forest Stories
Scanning Electron Microscopy

Founded in 2008 by the Bonanza Creek Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) in Fairbanks, Alaska, the In a Time of Change (ITOC) program facilitates and produces transdisciplinary events and exhibits focused on social-ecological themes, including climate change, wildfire, predator control, and the role of microbes in environmental health. ITOC recognizes that the arts, humanities, and sciences bring different yet synergistic perspectives and approaches to the natural world.

Microbial Worlds is the culmination of 16 months of collaborative work by visual artists, writers, and scientists on the topic of microorganisms. Fourteen artists and writers magnify the microbiome in this collaborative exhibit sponsored by the arts-humanities-science consortium, In a Time of Change.

The next ITOC project, Boreal Forest Stories, has been underway since the fall of 2020. The exhibit will open in September 2022. I am really excited about the work I have been doing for this project.
